The Illinois Federation was chartered
in December of 1919 with a mission of "Women Helping
Women". The federation grew from that
early start and continues to be a very powerful
organization. Our organization
exists to help women, in their careers and their personal
growth.
In 1947, the first statewide
leadership conference was held, and since that time
conferences are held each year to train and instruct
members in the responsibilities of their positions in
the organization. In 1948 an institution of a fellowship,
named the Celia M. Howard fellowship occurred. This
fellowship trains women for policy-making posts in
government and the diplomatic field..
The IFBPW organization is structured
much like our United States government. The structure of
our state federation
consists of a president, officers, and chairs. The
states
population is made up of members from the local
organizations existing in their respective states.
Member benefits include but are not
limited to; networking opportunities, education
opportunities, and legislative visibility. IFBPW members have
the opportunity to attend annual conferences, subscriptions to the Illinois Bulletin and mentoring via the
local organization meetings. In addition, scholarships
are offered to women at almost every level of the
organization.
When you join IFBPW you immediately are
entitled to member benefits such as: Networking ,
educational, and scholarship opportunities, and legislative
visibility.
You will have the opportunity to attend meetings
and conferences. You will gain access to tools that you
need to succeed
in today’s world. |
