The Business and Professional Women’s
organization is very committed to education. Education for
all women is one of the primary goals that BPW has
supported since its existence. BPW views a lack of
education as the primary barrier to self
sufficiency and improved lives. As a result of
that commitment, when you investigate the organization
as a whole or as one of the locals you will find that in
almost all cases BPW has given financial assistance to
women that are interested in furthering their
education. We are very proud of that
fact and we will continue as an organization to support
higher education for all women.
In addition, to the
Celia M. Howard fellowship described below, BPW/IL
has
recently organized a 501 ( c) 3
foundation, named BPW Illinois Educational
Foundation.
This foundation will give us the capability to
provide benefits for our members. and will give us
many capabilities that we are unable to have at the
present. The purpose of the new corporation will be to
exclusively promote, encourage or foster charitable,
education, and scientific purposes or activities. We
will be able to provide education and training, in the
form of workshops, speakers, and classes for
self-improvement, to assist
individuals in obtaining enhanced employment and
employment opportunities, including but not limited to
the provision of college and post-graduate scholarships
to qualified working women.
We are very excited
about the BPW Illinois Educational Foundation. We can only
imagine the good things that will be
accomplished by this foundation.
